Good care today. A stronger future.

United Children is building a small regional group of residential homes in Staffordshire for children with emotional and behavioural needs. Our key priority is allowing children to have time to settle and the support to move forward, including through difficult periods. As we grow, we expect high standards of care to guide every decision.

Why we started
United Children

United Children began with the potential we saw in Little Ash Farm. Its spacious house and extensive grounds offered an opportunity to create a home for children with emotional and behavioural needs.

Our ambition was to build a business focused around high standards of care, not simply filling a bed. For us, that's the only way we see it possible to make a lasting difference to children’s lives. That means giving children time to build trust and continuing to work with them when things become difficult.

As our first home - and what we see being our flagship home - Little Ash Farm has shaped our understanding of what this takes. As we develop further homes, children’s progress remains the reason behind our work - and the measure of our success.

A small regional group, built deliberately

Our ambition is to build a small group of high-quality residential homes in Staffordshire. We will grow selectively, opening each home when we have the right team and resources to provide good care. If that means growing more slowly, we will.

Keeping our homes within one region will allow our leadership to stay closely involved, support staff and act where standards need to improve. Every new home should meet a clear need and give children the care and stability they deserve.

Homes shaped around children’s needs

Different children benefit from different settings. We want to develop homes with a clear understanding of who they can support, choosing properties that work for everyday care and feel like places children can call home.

A shared commitment to good care

As the group grows, we want staff and leaders to learn from one another. Shared standards will provide a foundation for each home, with care shaped around the children living there.

Growth that protects quality

We intend to grow at a pace that allows us to stay closely involved in the quality of care. Each new home will need capable leadership and a team with the support to do their work well.

What we want United Children to be known for

  1. Thoughtful matching from the start
  2. High standards in everyday care
  3. Commitment to children through difficult periods
  4. Well-chosen homes that meet children’s needs

Growing with purpose

We want more children to have a home where they can settle and begin to look ahead. Building on our experience at Little Ash Farm, we are developing Little Ash View as our next step.

Our ambition goes beyond opening more homes. It is to build a business where high standards carry through into everyday care, giving children the support to make progress and helping our teams stay committed through difficult periods.
